what a great day!

Two of our regular students from this summer visited yesterday. They rode Gem and Precious... not only did they ride, they trotted... and rode bareback - at their request... WOW! The smiles on these two students faces warmed Kate's and my hearts and truly reinforced our belief on how wonderful this program is that we do and the wonders horses do for our souls....

These are the same students who were timid and afraid of haltering or grooming a horse without someone standing right by their sides this spring....

We are so proud of them.... and we were very pleasantly pleased and surprised when they did so much after a while of not being at the program....

Way to go, T and P! We are so glad to see you and very proud of the work you did yesterday!

Great Job!

Sad News, Sad Day

It is with a heavy heart that I have to tell everyone that yesterday, November 8, 2009, Ellie lost her valiant fight with whatever was ravaging her body. She gently passed with Kate, Lynn and her vet, Susan, by her side. While her body may be still, her spirit and memory will forever live on in the minds and hearts of those who knew and loved her. She is now running through the heavens.

Further tests are being conducted to verify what caused this.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. I will let everyone know when we have scheduled it.

Ellie Fund and Health Update

It has been a long and difficult medical journey for Ellie. A number of test results have yielded no clues as to the continued neurological symptoms she exhibits. We are currently administering large doses of wormer medications after learning of a horse that contracted parasites from white tailed deer that caused brain damage. It is a long shot but we are trying to do everything within practical reason to save this horse that has been such a blessing to so many people. The staff at Riverbend Veterinary Clinic of Lebanon, NH. have continued to show compassionate and attentive care. Thanks to everyone who has been encouraging and supportive.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL FUND - Horse Partners llc is incurring large financial debt in this effort to save this mare. Several of the horses also needed emergency medical help to recover from "choke", a condition with the esophagus clogged that needs to be flushed out so the horse can eat again. There are many opportunities to help - with Ellie's care, with donations, with fund raising efforts. Donations can be made to Horse Partners llc and will be used to pay the medical expenses.

THANKS TO the gifts given by Nancy T. , Kathleen W., and Klassen family for their thoughtful generosity. We appreciate your "partnering" with these special animals.
